Ken Freeman Began the ministry of Last Harvest Ministries, Inc. in Sept. of 1984. At the time, he was employed by G.E. Genigraphics Div. and considered the ministry to be a part-time outreach in the beginning. A local radio show called “The Promise” went on the air in Plano, Tx. Within the first broadcast, it became clear that the listeners wanted to talk about abortion.
By Oct. 5, 1984, the ministry papers were filed with the I.R.S. and the ministry officially birthed complete with a Purpose Statement that outlined the life mission of the ministry. By December, while at a New Year’s Eve Prayer party of a few friends, a brother named Mark prayed a word of knowledge over me stating that the “Lord sees your heart and has prepared a place to the east where many will come to learn of Jesus.” Little did I know that exactly thirteen years later, an anonymous donor stepped into the office of BankOne Marshall, TX and presented Last Harvest Ministries, Inc. with a $175,000 gift. This gift enabled us to purchase and redecorate some acreage and a four-bedroom,four-bath facility overlooking a spring-fed pond. The result: a safe house and headquarter for the ministry was established and paid for in cash.
Ken Freeman’s theological journey took him from his early Baptist upbringing, to Dallas Theological Seminary during 1976 – 1978 and then through Biblical Counseling Foundation Tracts I, II and III. During the 1989-90 time frame he taught BCF Tract I at Metroplex Chapel under the leadership of Dr. Jim Garlow. During the year’s 1988 – 1990, Ken Freeman hosted a live call in radio show on KVTT-FM in Dallas, TX with co-host Leonard Brannon. Leornard Brannon at this time was pastor of Grand Beacon Church of Dallas, Tx, a satellite church of Church on the Rock. He wanted to ordain me and took me under his wing for probation. In 1990, Ken Freeman was ordained and commissioned by Grand Beacon Church.
Ken Freeman is the author of “Healing the Hurts of Abortion” (1987), “Healing the Hurts of Abortion for Men” (1988), “Basics of Effective Recovery Leadership” (1989), “Free Me to Live”(1993), over 2000 daily radio show scripts for “Abortion Awareness in Action” syndicated to 80 markets on the USA Radio Network and IBN (1985-1990) and 36 ministry websites (see our links) now in use to reach over 3 million per year.
Our history documents twenty-seven (as of 2010) years of ministry, miracles and many lives saved, changed and healed. Looking over the span of twenty-seven years, it seems God has used Ken as a “pioneer” visioneer. The results of this “type” of ministry, often we cut paths that others follow, often without the support normally associated with the more mature ministry.
